– કોલંબો વેસ્ટ ઇન્ટરનેશનલ ટર્મિનલના વિકાસથી શ્રીલંકાની આર્થિક વૃધ્ધિને બળ મળશે

• પોર્ટ ઓફ. કોલંબોમાં ડીપ વોટર શિપિંગ કન્ટેનર ટર્મિનલના વિકાસ માટે આ ફંડ જરુરી ટેકો આપશે
• આ ફંડ શ્રીલંકાને તેની આર્થિક સ્થિતિમાં સુધાર લાવવા ખાનગી ક્ષેત્ર સંચાલિત વિકાસ સાધી કટોકટીજનક વિદેશી હુંડિયામણને આકર્ષવા તરફ દોરી જશે.
• સ્માર્ટ અને ગ્રીન પોર્ટ જેવા ટકાઉ માળખાના વિકાસ માટે શ્રીલંકા અને ભારતના પરસ્પર સહકારની પરંપરા પ્રસ્થાપિત થશે.

યુ.એસ. ઇન્ટરનેશનલ ડેવલપમેન્ટ  ફાયનાન્સ કોર્પોરેશન (DFC)એ ઘોષણા કરી છે કે તે ભારતના સૌથી મોટા પોર્ટ ઓપરેટર અદાણી પોર્ટ એન્ડ સ્પેશ્યલ ઇકોનોમિક ઝોન લિ., શ્રીલંકાના અગ્રણી સાહસ જ્હોન કીલ્લ્સ હોલ્ડિંગ (JKH) અને શ્રીલંકા પોર્ટ ઓથોરીટીના બનેલા કોન્સોર્ટીઅમને યુએસડી 553 મિલિયનનું માતબર ધિરાણ આપશે.

અમેરીકી સરકારની વિકાસ ધિરાણ સંસ્થા DFC  સૌથી વધુ ગંભીર પડકારોનો સામનો કરી રહેલા વિકસી રહેલા વિશ્વને નાણાકીય ઉકેલો માટે ખાનગી ક્ષેત્ર સાથે ભાગીદારી કરે છે. તે ઉર્જા,આરોગ્ય સંભાળ,આંતરમાળખું, કૃષિ અને નાના વ્યવસાયો તથા ધિરાણ સેવાઓના ક્ષેત્રમાં રોકાણ કરે છે.

અમેરિકન સરકાર સૌ પ્રથમવાર તેની સંસ્થાઓ પૈકીની એક સંસ્થા મારફત અદાણીના એક પ્રોજેક્ટને ધિરાણ આપી રહ્યું છે જે અદાણી સમૂહના વિકાસકીય અભિગમ અને સંચાલકીય બહોળા અનુભવને માન્યતા આપે છે.આ ધિરાણ અદાણી સમૂહની કોલંબો પોર્ટમાં રોકાણ કરી વિશ્વકક્ષાની કન્ટેનર સવલતનું સર્જન કરવાની કાબેલિયતમાં વિશ્વાસ દર્શાવે છે.

અદાણી પોર્ટસ એન્ડ સ્પેશ્યલ ઇકોનોમિક ઝોનના પૂર્ણકાલિન ડાયરેક્ટર અને મુખ્ય કારોબારી અધિકારી શ્રી કરણ અદાણીએ અમેરિકન સરકારની સંસ્થા અમેરિકાના ઇન્ટરનેશનલ ડેવલપમેન્ટ ફાયનાન્સ કોર્પોરેશનના અદાણી પ્રોજેક્ટ સાથેના જોડાણને આવકારી જણાવ્યું હતું કે અમે ઇન્ટરનેશનલ કોમ્યુનિટી દ્વારા અમારા વિઝન,અમારી ક્ષમતાઓ  અને અમારા સુશાસન ઉપર મજબૂત ભરોસા તરીકે જોઈએ છીએ. તેમણે જણાવ્યું હતું કે વિશ્વના સૌથી મોટા પોર્ટ ડેવલપર અને ઓપરેટર પૈકીના એક તરીકે ઉભરેલી APSEZ આ પ્રોજેક્ટ ફક્ત અમારી વિશ્વ કક્ષાની પુરવાર કાબેલિયત માટે જ નહી પરંતુ આંતર માળખાકીય ક્ષેત્રમાં નિર્માણના અમારા અગાધ અનુભવને લઈને આવી છે. આ પ્રોજેક્ટ જ્યારે પૂરો થશે ત્યારે કોલંબો વેસ્ટ ઇન્ટરનેશનલ ટર્મિનલ પ્રોજેક્ટ ફક્ત કોલંબો જ નહી પરંતુ સમગ્ર ટાપુની આરપાર સામાજીક આર્થિક ચિત્રને નવી પ્રત્યક્ષ અને પરોક્ષ હજારો રોજગારની તકો મારફત પલટાવી નાખવા સાથે શ્રીલંકાના વેપાર-વણજની ઈકો સિસ્ટમને જોરદાર પ્રોત્સાહન આપશે એમ તેમણે વધુમાં કહ્યું હતું.

     ભારતીય સામુદ્રીક પરીસીમામાં પોર્ટ ઓફ કોલંબો સૌથી મોટું અને ધમધોકાર ચાલતું ટ્રાન્સશિપમેંટ પોર્ટ છે.વ ૨૦૨૧થી તે 90%થી વધુ ઉપયોગીતા સાથે કામકાજ કરી રહ્યું છે. જેથી તેમાં વધારાની ક્ષમતા ઉમેરવી એ સમયની માંગ છે. નવું ટર્મિનલ મહત્વના શિપિંગ રુટો ઉપર શ્રીલંકાના મહત્વના સ્થાન તેમજ આ વિસ્તરતા બજારની  તેની નજદીકી પહોંચ   બંગાળના અખાતમાં ઉભરી રહેલા અર્થકારણને વેગ આપશે.

DFCના સી. ઇ.ઓ.શ્રી શ્રી સ્કોટ નેથને જણાવ્યું હતું કે કંપની વિકાસને આગળ ધપાવતા અને આર્થિક વૃધ્ધિ તરફ દોરી જતા ખાનગી ક્ષેત્રમાં રોકાણને પ્રોત્સાહન આપીને અમારા ભાગીદારોની વ્યુહાત્મક સ્થિતિને મજબૂત બનાવે છે.જે અનુસાર પોર્ટ ઓફ કોલંબોમાં આ આંતર માળખાના નિર્માણ માટે અમે સહયોગ કરી રહ્યા છીએ. શશ્રીલંકા દુનિયાનું એક મુખ્ય ટ્રાન્ઝીટ હબ છે અને અડધો અડધ કન્ટેનર શિપ તેના પાણીમાંથી પસાર થાય છે. સોવરીન ડેબ્ટ વધાર્યા સિવાય ખાનગી ક્ષેત્રમાં વેસ્ટ કન્ટેનર ટર્મિનલ માટે 553 મિલિયન ડોલરની લોનની DFCની પ્રતિબધ્ધતા તેની શિપિંગ ક્ષમતાને વિસ્તારવા સાથે શ્રીલંકાની સમૃધ્ધિને ઉચાઇએ લઈ જશે.

શ્રીલંકા ખાતેના અમેરીકાના રાજદૂત સુશ્રી જુલી ચંગે જણાવ્યું હતું કે DFC  દ્વારા પોર્ટ ઓફ કોલંબોના વેસ્ટ કન્ટેનર ટર્મિનલના લાંબાગાળાના વિકાસ માટે ડોલર 553 મિલિયનનું રોકાણ શ્રીલંકામાં ખાનગી ક્ષેત્ર પ્રેરીત વૃધ્ધિને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવા સાથે તેના આર્થિક પુન:સ્થાપન દરમિયાન મહત્વના વિદેશી હુંડિયામણના પ્રવાહને આકર્ષશે.

જોહ્ન કિલ્લા હોલ્ડિંગ્સના ચેરપર્સન શ્રી ક્રિષન બાલેન્દ્રએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે DFCનું આ રોકાણ વેસ્ટ ટર્મિનલ પ્રોજેક્ટના સામર્થ્યને સ્વીકારવા સાથે શ્રીલંકાના આર્થિક પુન:સ્થાપનમાં રોકાણકારના વિશ્વાસને બળ આપે છે.

આ સાથે અદાણી ગૃપ ઉભરતા બજારમાં વ્યુહાત્મક રોકાણ મારફત તેની વૈશ્વિક હાજરી વિસ્તારી રહી છે. અદાણી સમૂહે ટ્રાન્સપોર્ટ લોજીસ્ટિક્સ અને એનર્જી યુટીલિટીઝ વ્યવસાયોમાં માર્કેટ લિડર તરીકેનું સ્થાન લઈ લીધું છે.

About Colombo West International Terminal Pvt Ltd

Colombo West International Terminal Pvt. Ltd. is a consortium comprising India’s largest port operator Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, Sri Lanka’s leading enterprise John Keells Holdings and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The consortium will develop Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis for a period of 35 years. The development of this terminal will reinforce Colombo Port’s position as the primary hub in the region and is expected to elevate its ranking to 20^th among the world’s top container terminals. It will also transform the port’s position in terms of global shipping connectivity, which is currently 12^th globally.
